"I've made a diorama of a viking raid on a Frisian (Northern Netherlands) farm. I've used mainly Strelets figures from the viking, anglo-saxon and scottish sets, but also some Esci figures and a cow from Preiser. The farmhouse is scratchbuilt in the style that was used in the dark ages in the English-Dutch-German territories. The vikings raided the Dutch territories often, and sometimes tried to colonise or rule the country, or offered their services as mercenaries to the local rulers. The rich city of Dorestad (nowadays Wijk-bij-Duurstede) was raided several times and contemporary prayers often started with the words "Oh lord, save us from the vikings."
